Weird times...

It all started in a Chinese town called Wuhan. Some virus that seems to have a systematic impact on the immune system of humans. Specially the elderly appeared to succumb when infected with this virus. They called it, COVID-19 aka the novel Coronalvirus.

I found about it somewhere in January of this year. They compared it to the Influenza, but oh were they wrong. I do honestly believe that comparing it to the Flu is not correct, because the Flu have been around for much longer. We don’t talk about the dead rate of the Flu, like we are talking about the dead rate of the Coronavirus.

The virus spread fast from Asia to other continents, and it is not only killing humans but also shutting down countries and the world economy. Many countries have considered a total lockdown, meaning limited to non human travel in and out a country, curfew, closure of business and activities where a lot of people gather. Schools and Universities. There is no vaccine yet in site.

Weird times...

Think about it for a second; other than in times of war (which I have never experienced), when was the last time that you have experienced something like this. A virus that harms humans, lockdown countries and cripples the world economy.

Weird times…

Here in the Netherlands we have an Intelligence Lockdown. I think it is just a lockdown but the goverment does not want to call it as such. We are allowed to go to the grocery store if and when necessary, Limited amount of people in grocery stores. Retailers, Gyms, Saunas, Sports Clubs, Pubs, Restaurants - are all closed. Some restaurants have turned themselves into a take out service to maintain the generation of revenue. Otherwise, they will not survive. A virus that is harmful to humans will bankrupt your business.

Weird times….

The human is as strong as it is weak - Our priority has shifted in this lifetime. Your health and the one of your family should be the most important commodity. This coronavirus is proof of that. Focus on what you are able to do to boost your health and try not to focus on what you are not able to do. In my case the BJJ dojo and the Gym are closed. But I still exercise at home. 6 times a week - do not be lazy !

Weird times…

We are all in this together. Obey the measures that have been taken by the government and local authorities, and help each other when needed.

This feels like humanity has been naughty for a long time and finally we are sent to our rooms to think about what we’ve been doing. May be these are not weird times at all, but rather a time to reflect on the past to create a better / different future…

Be Safe and Stay Home!
