The gear phase...

Where do I start? I believe that most beginner photographers is a gear head. For me it all began about 4 months ago when I decided to trade my Canon 350D (I had it for 12 years) with the 18-55 kit lens for a 700D body and I did not have a lens yet to go with it.It all started at the Camera store in Eindhoven called Kamera-Express. I asked if I may look at 2 camera bodies; the 700D and the 760D. I stood at the counter for about 5 minutes and I could not decide which to get. At the end I got the one I could afford. After that I got lenses; First was the 55-250 STM IS from canon and then I got a 18-55 STM IS because I missed the wide angle. After that I got a Canon bag to put my gear in. I found out that the bag I just bought was not the right one and I preferred a bag pack. So I got one from Lowepro. After the "bag thing", I got a Canon 50mm 1.4 prime lens. See where I am going with this...? (Oh there is more but i will spare you the details)Not to mention the discussions that I have had with my wife, since she is seeing me buying gear but not taking any pictures. My wife was right but there was a reason for all this gear. At least for me; Internet overload! The internet is overloaded with information about photography for beginners to professional. Every day I was watching gear reviews on YouTube and I got even more confused on what gear I should get. I did not know what type of pictures I wanted to take and what type of lens should I have. It went all wrong for me. I bought gear based on what I thought was cool to have.In the mean time I am where I think I should be. I sold most of the gear listed above and have a few for sale still. I plan to keep 2 lenses and my camera body. I am not a professional photograph, it is my hobby!I follow a few international and local photographers on YouTube, Flicker, and Twitter. 2 of these photographers had addressed the gear topic on their YouTube channel and I believe that they helped me to realise that gear does not help you make better pictures. Here are the 2 links

So, I stopped buying gear, and now I am focused on taking pictures. Happy clicks!
